How the interview works

  • Your interview is a set of Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) plus a numeracy test.
  • The MMIs take about an hour and are made up of separate timed stations.
  • Home applicants attend face to face at the George Davies Centre.
  • International applicants are interviewed online.
  • The numeracy test is mostly mental arithmetic and needs no medical knowledge or formulas.
  • The numeracy test has a pass mark.

What they assess

  • Communication
  • Problem solving
  • Personal qualities and values
  • Motivation and suitability
  • Empathy and compassion
  • Self-insight
  • Teamwork
  • Ethical judgement
  • Honesty
  • Resilience
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Organisational ability
  • Numeracy

How it's scored and how offers are made

  • Each station is scored, and you are ranked by your total score.
  • For most candidates, the interview score alone decides whether an offer is made.
  • Borderline candidates are reviewed on their whole application, including academics, personal statement, reference and UCAT.
  • Some candidates may be invited to a second interview, usually a panel interview at an offer holders' day.
  • Reapplicants who are interviewed again are scored on the average of both interview scores.
