How the interview works
- Your interview is online and lasts 30 minutes.
- It has two parts: Panel A and Panel B.
- Two interviewers run both panels.
- Panel A covers your motivation to become a doctor, teamwork and related topics.
- Panel B covers communication, including discussing an ethical scenario.
- In Panel B you read two short scenarios of two or three sentences and choose one to discuss.
- The style is conversational, and you will not need to write anything.
What they assess
- Motivation to become a doctor
- Teamwork
- Communication
- Ethical reasoning
How it's scored and how offers are made
- Decisions are based solely on your interview performance.
- Interviewers complete score sheets, which are the only records kept.
- No score adjustments are made for widening participation, extenuating circumstances or illness on the day.
- Interview performance is ranked, then a secondary check confirms you meet all requirements.
- All offers depend on satisfactory health checks and a full PVG certificate.
- Unsuccessful applicants may be offered a place on the Gateway to Medical Studies programme (A900), if available.
