How the interview works

  • You will attend an Assessment Day lasting half a day.
  • You will rotate between two individual stations and one group station.
  • Each station is scored independently by one selector.
  • Selectors ask pre-determined questions and record marks on marksheets.
  • The half-day also includes information about studying medicine in Edinburgh.
  • Assessment Days are held in person at the Usher Building, Edinburgh BioQuarter.
  • Applicants living outside the UK and Ireland are interviewed online.

What they assess

  • Core attributes of doctors, taken from the Medical Schools Council statement on core values

How it's scored and how offers are made

  • Your Assessment Day scores make up 50% of your final score.
  • Your academic score (achieved and predicted grades) makes up 25%.
  • Your UCAT score, by decile, makes up 17.5%.
  • Your UCAT Situational Judgement Test band makes up 7.5%.
  • Applicants are ranked, and offers go to the highest-ranked within each fee category.
  • More offers are made than places, because not everyone accepts.
  • All scores are compared before any decision is made.
