Key dates

  • Interviews run until the end of January.
  • Offers are made after all interviews are completed and ranked.

How the interview works

  • You will do Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) at the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, Ormskirk campus.
  • There are 8 interview stations plus 2 rest stations.
  • Each station lasts 7 minutes, with 2 minutes beforehand to read the scenario.
  • You get a 1-minute gap to move on, so each station takes 10 minutes in total.
  • Your starting station is chosen at random.
  • At each station you discuss a scenario or perform a task.
  • The day also includes registration and ID checks, a programme introduction, an evaluation and student-led campus tours.
  • Family and friends can join the introduction and campus tour, and a waiting area is provided.

What they assess

  • Motivation for the Medicine programme
  • Verbal communication
  • Integrity and probity
  • Teamwork and leadership
  • Empathy and compassion
  • Awareness of current health challenges
  • Ethical awareness
  • Self and others awareness
  • Prioritisation and decision making
  • Interpretation of data

How it's scored and how offers are made

  • Interviewers score you at the end of each station.
  • Interviewers do not see your scores from other stations.
  • Station scores are combined into an overall MMI score, and you are ranked on it.
  • Decisions are made only after all interviews are finished and ranked.
  • Offers go to the top-ranked candidates.
  • If scores tie at the threshold, your personal statement and reference may be used.
  • An offer may be withheld for inappropriate behaviour or comments at interview, whatever your score.
  • A reserve list may be used.
  • No offer is made without an interview.
  • Offers depend on health screening, fitness to practise clearance, an enhanced DBS check and any outstanding grades.
