How the interview works
- You will take a modified Multiple Mini Interview (MMI), in person at the Suttie Centre, Foresterhill Health Campus, Aberdeen.
- You move round a series of question stations.
- At each station, two selectors explore one area with you for 5 minutes.
- The whole MMI takes about 1 hour.
- Every candidate is assessed on the same areas, but the exact questions may differ.
- Possible areas include your preparation for a medical career and training.
- Other areas include dealing with a new situation or solving a problem.
- You may also be asked about learning from past experiences, reflecting on your skills and contributing to patient care.
- The interview does not test academic knowledge.
What they assess
- Communication and interpersonal skills (scored at every station)
- Expressing ideas clearly and coherently
- Using existing knowledge to answer unfamiliar questions
- Following a reasoned argument and forming an opinion
- Discussing advantages and disadvantages of a situation
- Level of preparation
- Motivation and commitment
- Reflection and sensitivity
How it's scored and how offers are made
- Selectors score each station against set criteria.
- Communication and interpersonal skills are scored separately at every station.
- Your interview counts for 50% of your overall score.
- Academic attainment and predictions count for 30%, and UCAT for 20%.
- Offers go to applicants with the highest total scores from application and interview.
- Offers are made once all interviews are finished, by the end of March.
- Aberdeen does not offer Medicine places through Clearing, but may make further offers from the waiting list.
