How the interview works
- The interview is a series of short interviews testing non-cognitive skills.
- Home fee applicants attend in person in Belfast.
- International and EU (non-ROI) applicants interview online.
- Online candidates are emailed a 'Guidance for Candidates: Online Interviews' document.
What they assess
- Resilience
- Maturity and responsibility
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Confidence
- Self-awareness
- Empathy
- Ethical and moral values
- Professionalism and integrity
- Awareness of the demands of training as a dental surgeon
How it's scored and how offers are made
- Interview scores create a rank order of candidates.
- Offers go to the highest-ranked candidates.
- Whether you get an offer is decided solely on your interview performance.
- The UCAT SJT may be used to separate candidates with similar interview scores.
- In August, rank order is the main factor for candidates who meet the grades and hold no other dental offer.
