Key dates
- Selected applicants are invited to interview in late January or early February.
- Outcomes are normally given by the end of March.
How the interview works
- You will take Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) instead of a traditional interview.
- You rotate around a circuit of normally seven stations.
- Each station lasts six minutes, including one minute of reading time.
- The whole circuit takes just under 45 minutes.
- Stations include role-play, discussion and practical activities.
- Each station has one assessor.
What they assess
- Diligence and ethical conduct
- Caring nature, empathy and respect for others' views
- Communication skills
- Teamwork and leadership
- Self-criticism and self-motivation
- Independent thinking
- Planning, thinking on the spot and problem solving
- Manual dexterity, creativity and spatial awareness
How it's scored and how offers are made
- Each station targets a characteristic needed for dentistry.
- The assessor at each station scores you without knowing how you did elsewhere.
- Your station scores are added together to give a total score.
- Decisions are communicated through UCAS, normally by the end of March.
